Six Students Publish in Education Journal
Six students in Visiting Assistant Professor of Education Chantal Figueroa’s class have had their work published in the journal Education Review.
Figueroa had students in last fall’s Globalization and Education course write book reviews as part of a class project. “I was able to offer students the opportunity to develop book reviews using the guideline of Education Review — an open access journal from Arizona State University. Six students were selected by the journal editors,” she says.
Colorado College students Summer Ardell ’19, Emily Richardson ’19, and Grace Connolly ’18reviewed “Achievement for All in International Classrooms” by Sonia Blandord. Subtitled “Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities,” the book describes the educational not for profit, Achievement For All’s (AFA’s), approach to closing the educational gap between children with additional learning needs and those without.
Eleanor Rainbolt-Forbes ’21, Michelle Wolford ’21, and Laurel Sullivan ’20 reviewed “Policy Transfer and Educational Change” by David Scott, Mayumi Terano, Roger Slee, Chris Husbands, and Raphael Wilkins. Thisbook explains the spread of ideas regarding educational policy and the ways in which this exchange influences education reform.
“I am so proud of Summer, Emily, Grace, Eleanor, Michelle, and Laurel for their work and their commitment to follow through with the nine-month revise and resubmit process,” says Figueroa. “The journal was so impressed by CC students’ work they have extended an invitation for more submissions.”
